Elmhurst's Backhaus, North Central's Soto named CCIW Men's Soccer Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Elmhurst's Noah Backhaus and North Central's Marco Soto were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Soccer Players of the Week on Tuesday.

Backhaus, a sophomore midfielder from Zionsville, Indiana and Zionsville High School, tallied two goals and four assists for the 2-0-0 Bluejays last week. He scored a goal and had three assists in a 4-2 win over 19th-ranked Wheaton at home on Saturday. Backhaus also had one goal and an assist in a 5-0 shutout of Olivet on Wednesday.

Soto, a senior goalkeeper from Summit, Illinois and Argo High School, won his second-straight CCIW Defensive Player of the Week honor following his performance in a 1-0, 2-overtime shutout at Millikin on Saturday. Soto made nine saves while playing all 107 minutes and 48 seconds of the contest.
