Millikin's McElroy, Carthage's de Rosales named CCIW Women's Volleyball Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Millikin's Marissa McElroy and Carthage's Laura de Rosales were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Women's Volleyball Players of the Week on Tuesday.

McElroy, a senior middle blocker from St. Joseph, Illinois and St. Joseph Ogden High School, helped lead the Big Blue to a 3-1 record last week including 2-0 in conference play. She totaled 17 kills, hit .394 and added six blocks in a 3-1 win over Wheaton last Tuesday, followed by 13 kills in a sweep at Augustana on Friday. She added 11 kills against UW-Stevens Point, and seven kills and three blocks in a sweep of UW-La Crosse on Saturday. 

de Rosales, a senior defensive specialist from Rockford, Illinois and Keith Country Day School, finished with over 20 digs in two-straight conference wins last week. She totaled 22 digs in a sweep of Elmhurst on Wednesday, followed by 27 digs in a four-set win at Carroll on Saturday. The two wins moved the Lady Reds to 6-0 in conference play and 20-1 overall. Carthage was recently ranked fourth in the latest AVCA Top 25 and face No. 3 University Chicago in Hyde Park on Tuesday.
