NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- North Park's
Peder Olsen and
Angel Barriga were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Soccer Players of the Week on Tuesday.
Olsen, a junior midfielder from Larvik, Norway, scored a hat trick in a 4-0 shutout of Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday. He scored goals in the ninth, 44th and 73rd minutes against the Titans as Olsen leads the CCIW and is second in the nation with 16 total goals. Olsen also added an assist in a 3-2 loss at Carthage last Wednesday. He has marked a point in six consecutive matches.
Barriga, a sophomore defender from Bensenville, Illinois and Fenton High School, helped anchor a Viking defense that held Illinois Wesleyan to just two shots, including one on goal. Despite falling to Carthage, the Red Men were held to six shots and Barriga added an assist in the match. He is currently tied for the team and CCIW lead with six assists on the season.

During the 2018-19 academic year, the CCIW honored over 2,200 academic all-conference recipients, 18 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 43 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients, and over 100 all-Americans.
