2019 CCIW All-Conference Women's Volleyball Team
NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced on Monday the members of the 2019 All-Conference Women's Volleyball Team.
CCIW regular season and tournament champion led the way with seven selections on the 23-player team including six first team selections (Nicole Action, Megan Behrendt, Haley Horner, Shannon Kebisek, Andrea Kozak, Ellie LeCount) and one second team selection (Laura de Rosales).
Millikin was second with four players including two on the first team (Marissa McElroy, Rose Syversen) and two on the second team (Lauren Brummel, Jessi Kreder).
Augustana had three players named to the all-conference team including one on the first team (Grace Bialobok) and two on the second team (Brooke Harmon, Jessica Nguyen), while Illinois Wesleyan also had three all-conference recipients including one on the first team (Madi Corey) and two on the second team (Courtney McAuliffe, Jessica McCall). Additionally, Elmhurst had three all-conference members including one on the first team (Bailey Brouwer) and two on the second team (Payton Froats, Val Thomas).
Wheaton's two second-team members (Allie High, Colleen Smith) and Carroll's one second team selection (Erika Dunnam) rounded out the all-conference team.
Behrendt, a senior outside hitter from Lindenhurst, Illinois and Lakes Community High School, was named the 2019 CCIW Player of the Year after helping lead Carthage to its 12th regular season title and 13th conference tournament title in program history. She is the Lady Reds' first recipient since Karen Chin in 2015.
Carthage head coach Leanne Ulmer was named the CCIW Coach of the Year for the ninth time in her career and first time since 2015.
Kreder, a freshman middle blocker from St. Charles, Missouri and Francis Howell Central High School, earned 2019 CCIW Freshman of the Year honors.
The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services nine member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carroll University (Waukesha, WI), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2018-19 academic year, the CCIW honored over 2,200 academic all-conference recipients, 18 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 43 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients, and over 100 all-Americans.
