North Park's Johnson named CCIW Women's Basketball Player of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- North Park sophomore forward Jayla Johnson was selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday.

A native of Wheaton, Illinois and Wheaton-Warrenville South High School, Johnson averaged 19 points and five rebounds in two weekend victories that gave the Vikings their first 4-0 start since 2012-13. She scored 18 points on 9-of-14 shooting, along with four rebounds and two steals in a 53-46 win over Buena Vista on Friday. Johnson followed up that performance with 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting, six rebounds, two assists and three steals in a 64-47 win against Olivet on Saturday.
