NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- North Central senior forward
Matt Cappelletti won his second-straight College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Basketball Player of the Week honor on Monday.
A native of Romeoville, Illinois and Romeoville High School, Cappelletti helped lead the Cardinals to a pair of conference wins last week. He scored 14 points and pulled down eight rebounds in a 70-69 win over Carthage on February 19 that clinched the Cardinals' their first conference title since 2012. He knocked down a pair of free throws with 0.9 seconds left to complete the comeback win as North Central scored five points in the final 4.3 seconds against the Red Men. He added 18 points and nine rebounds in a 78-71 win at Wheaton in the regular season finale on February 22.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services nine member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carroll University (Waukesha, WI), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2018-19 academic year, the CCIW honored over 2,200 academic all-conference recipients, 18 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 43 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients, and over 100 all-Americans.
