Carthage's Slivinski, North Central's Trunzo named CCIW Men's Volleyball Players of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Carthage's Matt Slivinski and North Central's Michael Trunzo were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Volleyball Players of the Week on Monday.

Slivinski, a junior outside hitter from Willow Springs, Illinois and Lyons Township High School, averaged 5.46 kills for the 2-1 Red Men last week. He had 24 kills, five digs and hit .340 in a five-set loss to the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) last Wednesday. He then had 19 kills, four digs and hit .378 in a sweep at California Lutheran on Friday, followed by 28 kills and five digs in a five-set win against UC-Santa Cruz on Saturday.

Trunzo, a senior setter from Valencia, California and Valencia High School, led the Cardinals with 107 set assists in three matches last week. He had 37 assists and seven assists in a sweep of Concordia-Chicago on Tuesday, followed by 37 assists and seven digs in a five-set loss to MSOE on Friday, and 33 assists and four digs in a sweep of Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) on Saturday. North Central hit .326 against Concordia-Chicago and a program-high .625 vs. IIT.
