NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Carthage's
Matt Slivinski and North Central's
Jeremy Cardenas were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Volleyball Players of the Week on Monday.
Slivinski, a junior outside hitter from Willow Springs, Illinois and Lyons Township High School, led Carthage to a three-game sweep over second place North Central on Monday. He had 14 kills, hit .310, and added four digs and three total blocks for the Red Men. This is Slivinski's second CCIW Hitter of the Week honor this season.
Cardenas, a freshman middle blocker from Bolingbrook, Illinois and Neuqua Valley High School, totaled 10 blocks in three matches (1.25 blocks per set) for the Cardinals last week. He had a career-high six total block assists against fourth-ranked SUNY New Paltz on February 29. Cardenas tied his record in total blocks for a three-set match, which he first accomplished on February 8 vs. Marian.

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) was founded in 1946 and currently services nine member institutions including Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Carroll University (Waukesha, WI), Carthage College (Kenosha, WI), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, IL), Millikin University (Decatur, IL), North Central College (Naperville, IL), North Park University (Chicago, IL) and Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). During the 2018-19 academic year, the CCIW honored over 2,200 academic all-conference recipients, 18 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 43 CoSIDA Academic All-District recipients, and over 100 all-Americans.
