CCIW Legacy Series: Ken Anderson - Augustana College

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- As the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) continues its 75th anniversary celebration, the conference honors the past student-athletes, coaches and administrators who helped shaped the CCIW during its seven-plus decades of competition.

Each week during the 2020-21 season, CCIW.org will spotlight student-athletes through its Conference Legacy Series. 

Today, we highlight the career of former Augustana College student-athlete Ken Anderson.

  • Played 16 seasons in the NFL for the Cincinnati Bengals
  • Led the Bengals to Super Bowl XVI and was named the AFC's Most Valuable Player that season
  • Three-time All-CCIW selection (1968-70)
  • 1970 CCIW Art Keller Offensive Player of the Year
  • Inducted into the Augustana Tribe of Vikings Hall of Fame in 2003
  • Led Augustana to the CCIW title in 1968
  • Two-time Associated Press All-American
  • Named an Academic All-American as a senior (1970)
  • Lettered for three years in basketball (1968, 1969, 1970)
  • School-record holder in career passing yards (6,131), career passing TDs (48), career offensive yards (6,680), passing touchdowns in a season (20 in 1968), passing attempts in a game (58 in 1970), and touchdown passes in a game (5 in 1968)
