D3football.com Team of the Week Release (Week 7)
NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Two College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) student-athletes were named to the D3football.com Team of the Week announced on Tuesday.
Wheaton senior defensive lineman
Jake Holaday was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for the second this team after spearheading a Wheaton defensive effort that saw the Thunder tally eight sacks in a 48-13 win at Carroll on Saturday. Holaday set a season-high with 10 tackles that included 3.5 sacks. The Thunder senior leads the CCIW and ranks third in Division III with eight sacks this season.
North Park freshman defensive back
Juan Nieves earned his first career D3football.com Team of the Week nod. Nieves was named the CCIW Defensive Player of the Week after helping North Park earn its first victory in Kenosha since 1992 with a 33-30 victory at Carthage. Nieves tallied eight tackles including two for loss and a sack. He also forced two fourth quarter turnovers with a forced fumble and an interception deep in his own territory to thwart the Carthage rally.
