Anthony Marre and
Andrew Stange of Illinois Wesleyan and Wheaton's
Caleb Egbert were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Football Student-Athletes of the Week on Monday.
Marre, a senior running back and Design, Technology, and Entrepreneurship major from Bloomingdale, Illinois, was the headliner of a potent rushing attack for the Titans in Saturday's 56-6 victory over North Park. Marre carried the ball 16 times for 243 yards and three touchdowns and also added five catches for 72 yards. His 243 yards rushing is the third-highest single-game total in program history and the 10th-highest total in Division III this season. Marre's first touchdown run came from three yards out late in the first quarter. He added scoring runs of 63 and 91 yards in the third quarter as the Titans rolled for 429 yards on the ground. Marre's 315 yards of total offense is third-most in Titan program history.
Egbert, a senior defensive back and Business/Economics major from Montrose, Colorado, was Wheaton's leading tackler in a 44-0 shutout of Elmhurst on Saturday. Egbert tallied a season-high nine tackles including two tackles for loss among seven solo stops. He also added a pass break-up and returned an interception 68 yards for a touchdown, marking his second-consecutive week with a pick-six and third of the season. Egbert and the Wheaton defense limited Elmhurst to negative-eight yards rushing on 26 rushing attempts in the victory.
Stange, a junior kicker and Nursing major from Lake Zurich, Illinois, earned his second weekly honor from the CCIW this season. Stange converted all eight extra-point attempts for the Titans in their 56-6 victory over North Park to tie a Titan program single-game record. He also averaged 62.7 yards on nine kickoffs, including three touchbacks.
