Carthage's Lowe, Wheaton's Holaday, Illinois Wesleyan's Stange named CCIW Football Student-Athletes of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Carthage's Bryce Lowe, Wheaton's Jake Holaday and Illinois Wesleyan's Andrew Stange were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Football Student-Athletes of the Week on Monday.

Lowe, a freshman quarterback from Lutz, Florida and Steinbrenner High School, earned his second-straight CCIW Offensive Athlete of the Week honor after leading the Firebirds to a 63-42 win at Millikin on Saturday. He completed 17-of-23 passes for 336 yards and six touchdowns including a long of 50 yards. Lowe became the first Carthage quarterback to pass for 300-plus yards in back-to-back games since Evan Jones in 2009. He also established a new program record for touchdown passes, while four of those passes went for 30 yards or more.

Holaday, a senior defensive lineman from Brandon, Mississippi and Hartfield Academy, totaled five tackles (five solo) including four tackles-for-loss (three sacks) in the Thunder's 40-10 win at Washington University in St. Louis on Monday. His four tackles-for-loss went for minus 22 yards including three sacks for minus 18 yards. All three of his sacks occurred in the second quarter, with the first (-4 yards) on third down to end a WashU drive. His second sack (-5 yards) and third (-9 yards) came on the first two plays of a Bears' drive late in the second quarter.

Stange, a junior kicker from Lake Zurich, Illinois and Lake Zurich High School, went a perfect 7-for-7 on extra point attempts and had a season-long 44-yard field goal in the Titans' 52-3 win over Elmhurst on Saturday. His 44-yard field goal was the longest by a Titan since Stange converted a 46-yarder against Carthage on October 12, 2019. He also recorded five touchbacks on eight kickoffs for an average of 63.9 yards per kick.
