Wheaton's Weeks, Augustana's Blackford, WashU's Goldberg named CCIW Football Student-Athletes of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. --  Wheaton's Giovanni Weeks, Augustana's Brody Blackford, and WashU's Collin Goldberg were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Football Student-Athletes of the Week on Monday.

Weeks, a junior running back and Business/Economics major from Kent City, Michigan, earned his second-consecutive weekly honor and third this season. For the second-straight week, the Thunder running back found the end zone four times in Wheaton's 49-7 victory at Millikin. Weeks opened the scoring with a three-yard touchdown run, and added scoring runs of two yards and one yard later in the first half. With a 53-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, Weeks tied a 76-year old program record with his 19th rushing touchdown of the season and also secured the CCIW rushing title with 1,191 yards. Weeks finished the game with 114 yards on 16 carries and also added 103 yards on four receptions.

Blackford, a senior linebacker from Peoria, Illinois, helped lead a Viking defensive effort that saw Augustana hold Illinois Wesleyan to just 2.4 yards per carry in a 38-14 Augustana victory. Blackford tallied a team-high 10 tackles including one tackle for loss. He also ended an Illinois Wesleyan drive in the fourth quarter with an interception.

Goldberg, a freshman wide receiver and kick returner from Atlanta, Georgia, recorded over 200 total yards in WashU's 37-16 victory over Carthage on Saturday. The rookie returner tallied 42 yards on five punt returns but accented his day with a 97-yard kickoff return for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter. Goldberg's return set a new program record for longest kickoff return for a touchdown, breaking the previous record of 95 yards established by Cory Snider in 1999.
