CCIW hosts Bingo Night with Special Olympics athletes

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and Special Olympics Illinois recently held its first-ever Virtual Bingo Night.

18881Over 60 participants from both the CCIW and Special Olympics participated in this sports-themed event, where conference student-athletes and Special Olympics athletes were mixed together into three breakout rooms and to take part in traditional bingo contests.  

This is the first time that both the CCIW SAAC and Special Olympics participated in a joint virtual event. During non-COVID years, both organizations have taken part in a joint bocce ball clinic where Special Olympics athletes teach CCIW student-athletes how to play the game. Both organizations plan to conduct Unified Bocce events together in the future. 

In the meantime, the CCIW SAAC and Special Olympics will plan for another virtual night before the end of the 2020-21 academic year. 

Special Olympics is the world's largest sports organization for children and adults with intellectual disabilities and physical disabilities, providing year-round training and activities to 5 million participants and Unified Sports partners in 172 countries.
