Silas Galvao and
AJ Moyes were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Soccer Student-Athletes of the Week while helping lead the Thunder to a 2-0-0 start to the 2021 season.
Galvao, a senior midfielder from Houston, Texas and Goal International Learning Academy, totaled four goals and one assist for the Thunder last week. He registered a hat trick in a 4-1 victory at Marian (Wis.) on Saturday. It was the Thunder's first hat trick since October 22, 2016, a span of 59 matches. Galvao helped Wheaton to a 2-1 victory against Hardin-Simmons in the season opener last Wednesday as he finished with one goal and one assist.
Moyes, a senior defender from Cornelius, North Carolina and Pine Lake Prep, played a key role in helping Wheaton start the 2021 season 2-0-0. He played all 90 minutes for the Thunder against Hardin-Simmons as the Cowboys finished with just eight shots in the match, including just one in the second half. Moyes also tallied two assists in the victory against Marian (Wis.).
