NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central has moved up one spot to #3 in the latest NCAA Division III Men’s Cross Country National Coaches’ Poll released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Wednesday.
The Cardinals trail only top-ranked Pomona-Pitzer and #2 MIT in the most recent national rankings. NCC moved ahead of Wartburg in the poll after the Cardinals finished second at Augustana’s Interregional Invitational last Saturday at Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Ill., one spot ahead of the Knights.
Connor Riss was the top performer for NCC at the event, placing second in 23:49.2. Three Cardinals placed in the top 10 and all five were in the top 30 of the race that featured 27 teams and 276 individuals.
NCC will turn its attention to the CCIW Championship scheduled next Saturday at noon at St. James Farm in Warrenville, Ill.
