NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) has announced its Football Student-Athletes of the Week for the eighth week of the 2022 season. North Central’s DeAngelo Hardy is the Offensive winner, Millikin’s Christopher Montgomery is the Defensive recipient and Augustana’s Breyden Smith earned the honor on Special Teams.
Hardy, junior from Lake Villa, Ill., is the CCIW Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career after hauling in nine receptions for 160 yards and three scores in the top-ranked Cardinals’ 31-0 victory at #21/23 WashU on Saturday in St. Louis. His 160 yards were a season-high and moved him into fourth place on the Cardinals’ all-time receiving yards list with 2,346.
Montgomery led a Millikin defensive effort that shutout Elmhurst Saturday and limited the Bluejays to just 99 yards of total offense. The senior defensive lineman from Chicago had nine total tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and forced two fumbles in MU’s 13-0 win, its first shutout win in Decatur since Oct. 26, 2019.
Smith returned three kickoffs for 90 yards in Augustana’s 56-34 win Saturday afternoon at North Park. The freshman from Arlington Heights, Ill. set the tone early for the Vikings, returning the opening kickoff 45 yards to set up a short field for AC’s first scoring drive of the day.
