NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) has selected North Central junior Aidan Brown and Augustana junior Grace Vranicar as its Women’s Volleyball Student-Athletes of the Week, according to a Monday announcement.
Brown earned the Hitter of the Week honor after averaging 4.56 kills and attacking at a .286 clip in a pair of CCIW matches last week. The Sterling, Ill. native put down 22 kills with three service aces and 18 digs in a five-game match at Elmhurst last Tuesday. She followed that effort with 19 kills and two more service aces in the Cardinals’ four-set win over Carroll on Friday.
Vranicar had 20 digs or more three times last week, including a 23-dig effort in the Vikings’ five-set win over #21 Illinois Wesleyan to win the league’s weekly Defense/Setter/Libero honor. The third-year player from Sugar Grove, Ill. averaged 5.73 digs over 15 sets played and added 21 assists in four matches.
