NAPERVILLE, Ill. – A pair of College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) wins that vaulted Illinois Wesleyan into the league tournament have landed CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week selections for the Titans’ Taylor French and Faith Washko, according to an announcement from the conference office Monday afternoon.
French is the league’s Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week for the second time in six weeks after averaging 3.93 kills per set and attacking at a .246 clip in four matches last week. The 6-foot freshman outside hitter from Romeoville, Ill. produced three double-doubles during the week, including a 14-kill, 42-dig effort Friday – the most digs by a CCIW player this season – that allowed IWU to topple Millikin at the Shirk Center. She also averaged 0.6 service aces per set for the week and led the Titans to a non-league win over St. Norbert on Saturday in Bloomington.
Washko provided defensive support throughout the week for IWU, producing 5.0 digs per set and a .943 reception percentage to earn the league’s Defense/Setter/Libero Student-Athlete of the Week honor. The Springfield, Ill. native, who also earned the CCIW honor on Sept. 26 alongside French, totaled 75 digs, nine assists and four service aces for the week, including a week-high 26 digs in the Titans’ win over Millikin on Friday.
