Millikin's Birt wins second CCIW Wrestling Student-Athlete of the Week honor

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Millikin senior Bradan Birt won his second College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Wrestling Student-Athlete of the Week honor on Tuesday.

Birt, a native of Epworth, Iowa and Western Dubuque High School, won the 165 pound title with a 5-0 record at the 80th Pete Willson Invitational, hosted by Wheaton College and held Friday and Saturday. He improved to 30-0 on the season and was named the tournament's George Olson Outstanding Wrestler, as well as the Jack Swartz Award for most falls in the least amount of time. Birt finished with four falls and one technical fall including wins over UW-Whitewater's Shane Piper (Fall 0:56), Muskingum's Carter Layton (Fall 0:34), North Central's Payton Geigner (Fall 1:31), Cornell's Casey Allen (20-3 TF), and UW-Stevens Point's Brandon Peckham (Fall 5:00).
