NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Wheaton teammates Giovanni Weeks and Riley Schwartz join North Park’s Juan Nieves as College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Football Student-Athletes of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
 
Weeks is the CCIW Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week after a 268-yard rushing effort in the Thunder’s 38-28 road win at Augustana. The preseason D3football.com All-American from Kent City, Mich., who is the active career Division III leader with 128.9 rushing yards per game, carried 37 times Saturday for an average of 7.2 yards per rush. The effort is one of just eight 250-yard rushing games this year in Division III.
 
Schwartz played a big role in Wheaton’s win in Rock Island, logging two second-half interceptions to win the league’s defensive weekly honor. Protecting a 10-point lead, the Las Vegas native’s second pick of the night thwarted an Augustana drive that moved into WC territory in the final two minutes of the game. Schwartz had 24 yards on the two interceptions and added three total tackles.
 
Nieves, a sophomore defensive back from Carrollton, Ga., is the Special Teams Student-Athlete of the Week after returning a punt 90 yards for a touchdown midway through the second quarter of North Park’s CCIW contest at Millikin. The special-teams play was the second-longest punt return for a touchdown in the nation this season. Nieves also returned a pair of kickoffs for 14 yards.
