NAPERVILLE – Carthage throws specialist Joseph White maintained his early-season dominance as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Indoor Field Student-Athlete of the Week, the league announced Wednesday. North Central’s Max Svienty was the Track winner, NCC’s second in a row.
White broke his own CCIW indoor record with a throw of 18.31 meters in the shot put, helping the Firebirds to a second-place team finish at North Central’s Snow Day Invitational in Naperville last Friday. The final mark in the shot put ranked 13th all-time in Division III. White, now a four-time CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week winner this season, also won the weight throw in 20.55 meters.
Svienty cruised to a victory in the 5,000 meters at the Snow Day Invitational with a time of 14:47.3. His effort is the fastest time in the CCIW this winter as well as the 13th-fastest nationwide during the current indoor season.
