NAPERVILLE – Three College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) women’s volleyball players earned repeat selections as Student-Athlete of the Week in 2023, according to a Monday afternoon release from the conference office.
 
Hitter: Taylor French, Illinois Wesleyan
IWU outside hitter Taylor French collected her third consecutive CCIW Hitter of the Week choice, as well as her fifth selection of 2023 and the seventh nod of her career after her performance last week. The sophomore led the Titans to three wins, extending their season-best win streak to seven matches. She averaged 5.73 kills per set with a .296 attack percentage. She also picked up 3.82 digs per set to log a double-double in each of the Titans’ three wins.
 
Setter: Christina Gatta, North Park
In North Park’s historic Friday sweep of nationally ranked foes #6 Wisconsin-Whitewater and #3 Hope in Chicago, Gatta averaged 7.22 assists, 3.56 digs and 1.0 service ace per set. She produced a total of 22.5 points between the two matches and had assist-dig double-doubles in both starts. The Chicago native also attacked at a .412 clip in the evening win over Hope, putting down seven kills on 17 swings with an error.
 
Defensive: Grace Vranicar, Augustana
Vranicar was steady for Augustana in the Vikings’ perfect 4-0 week, churning out at least 17 digs in all four matches without a single reception error over 15 sets of action. The senior’s 42 digs in Augie’s five-set win over Dubuque last Tuesday were the most by a player in a CCIW match this season. For the week, she averaged 6.4 digs and 0.47 service aces per set.
