NAPERVILLE – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced Football Student-Athletes of the Week for Week 6 of the 2023 season on Monday afternoon.
Offense: DeAngelo Hardy, North Central
Hardy piled up 278 receiving yards – fourth-most ever in a CCIW game – to power North Central to a 69-24 victory over Carroll on Saturday night in Naperville. He had seven receptions on the evening and became just the ninth player in Division III this season to score four receiving touchdowns.
The yardage total for the senior from Lake Villa, Ill. was the most in a CCIW game since Illinois Wesleyan’s Chris Bisaillon logged 287 yards against Carroll on Nov. 11, 1989. Hardy’s performance also marked the third-most receiving yards in a Division III game this fall.
Defense: Jaydin Miller, North Park
Miller collected his second CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week honor of 2023, leading the Vikings to a 35-20 triumph at Carthage. The junior linebacker from South Bend, Ind. finished the afternoon with 12 tackles (11 unassisted), 2.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack, a forced fumble and an interception.
Special Teams: Joey Lombardi, North Central
Lombardi, a senior from Chicago, totaled 138 kickoff return yards for the Cardinals on Saturday, including a 98-yard return for a touchdown at the 7:14 mark of the first quarter. It marked the longest kickoff return in North Central history.
