CCIW Selects Rangel as Women’s Hoops Student-Athlete of the Week

NAPERVILLE – Carroll junior Olivia Rangel was announced as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Student-Athlete of the Week in women’s basketball, according to an announcement from the league office.
 
Monday’s announcement marks the second career Student-Athlete of the Week award for Rangel from the CCIW.
 
The 5-foot-9 guard from Franklin, Wis. averaged 26.0 points and 4.5 rebounds in two non-league starts for the Pioneers last week. She also shot 47 percent from the floor and 40 percent from 3-point range in contests against Ripon and #13/#22 Chicago. Rangel, a two-time All-CCIW First Team pick, poured in 24 points and tallied five steals in the contest against the Maroons last Tuesday before a career-high 28-point effort in the Pios’ win over Ripon on Saturday in Waukesha. 
 
Rangel made 11 of 18 shot attempts on Saturday, adding five boards and four assists.
