Carthage’s Morrissey Nets Weekly CCIW Women’s Hoops Award

NAPERVILLE – Carthage guard Marianna Morrissey scored 32 points and gathered eight rebounds on Saturday to claim the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Student-Athlete of the Week award in women’s basketball, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
 
Morrissey led the Firebirds to a 60-50 win over visiting St. Norbert on Saturday at Tarble Arena. The junior from Libertyville, Ill. made 14 of 19 shots from the field and tallied four of Carthage’s six steals in the victory. Morrissey also had a blocked shot and a steal in 34 minutes of action.
 
Monday’s announcement marks Carthage’s first CCIW Women’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week since Sammie Woodward on Jan. 6, 2020.
