NAPERVILLE – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its All-CCIW Women’s Basketball Teams and postseason award recipients, Monday afternoon.
Millikin junior Elyce Knudsen is the Lori Kerans Most Outstanding Student-Athlete, North Park junior Victoria Perry has been voted First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year, and fifth-year Millikin head coach Olivia Lett has been selected Beth Baker Coach of the Year.
Knudsen, now a three-time All-CCIW First-Team selection, led the league in scoring against conference opponents with 23.5 points per game. The guard from Philo, Ill. had seven 25-point games against CCIW opponents, including three in a row in early February as the Big Blue pursued the league’s regular-season crown.
She was also the league’s most accurate 3-point shooter among players with at least two makes per game at 40.2 percent (33-for-82) and ranked among the league leaders in steals (2.13 per game, fifth) and assists (3.0, seventh).
Perry, a transfer from Aurora, finished the 16-game league slate ranked fourth in scoring with 15.4 points per contest. She was a 71 percent free-throw shooter, fourth-best among CCIW players with at least three makes per game. She logged a season-high 29 points in a win over Elmhurst on Feb. 11.
Lett is the Beth Baker Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season after leading Millikin to back-to-back CCIW titles, including its first outright regular-season championship since the 2003-04 campaign. The Big Blue, which will host the CCIW Tournament semifinals and championship game this weekend in Decatur, finished the regular season 21-4 overall, 15-1 in the CCIW and won 14 consecutive contests between Nov. 30 and Feb. 1.
Four players repeated as All-CCIW First-Team choices – Knudsen, Augustana’s Gabriela Loiz, Carroll’s Olivia Rangel and Illinois Wesleyan’s Lauren Huber. MU’s Bailey Coffman was named to the First Team Monday for the second time in her career and is an All-CCIW pick for the third time overall. Carthage’s Marianna Morrissey, Perry and Wheaton’s Caroline Sikkink are first-time selections.
Macy Beinborn of Augustana, Taylor Harazin of Elmhurst and Anikka Richardson of Wheaton are individuals on the Second Team in back-to-back seasons.
