NAPERVILLE -- North Central College's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee teamed up with Special Olympics Illinois for a Field Day held inside the College's Residence Hall/Recreation Center (ResRec) facility.

SAAC at North Central represents the Division III student-athlete voice in the Division III governance structure by reviewing legislation; identifying significant student-athlete issues; implementing national student-athlete based initiatives; encouraging community outreach; and enhancing Division III student-athlete involvement in and understanding of Division III in general.  The SAAC is also the committee that is primarily responsible for maintaining and coordinating the division's nationwide partnership with the Special Olympics.

North Central student-athletes from a variety of sports came together to play basketball, volleyball, pickleball, soccer, and cornhole with Special Olympics athletes. To see a video recap of the event, click HERE.

"I could not be more thrilled and proud of how the event turned out," North Central SAAC President Jack Moran said. "We had close to 40 Special Olympic athletes attend. In the brief conversations I had with the families, everyone seemed to have a blast which makes me even more excited to see what SAAC is able to do next year. Our NCC SAAC representatives also thoroughly enjoyed the experience and said it was a great event to be a part of. Even though I will not be here next year, my goal for next year and SAAC's future leadership is to host a field day in the fall and spring next year."
