Week 2 Football Student-Athletes of the Week Announced by CCIW

NAPERVILLE – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) recognized its second installment of its Student-Athletes of the Week in football on Monday afternoon.
 
Offense: Cristian Carstens, Wheaton
Carstens, senior from Glen Ellyn, Ill. for the 13th-ranked Thunder, averaged 5.2 yards on 19 carries in Saturday’s win over 19th-ranked Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He finished the day with 99 yards and two touchdowns, including five rushes on Wheaton’s final drive of the afternoon that put the game out of reach.
 
Defense: Max Wilson, Wheaton
Wilson had two interceptions in Wheaton’s 31-20 win on Saturday. His second pick ended Wisconsin-Oshkosh’s final possession of the day. The Wheaton, Ill. native also had three tackles, one of which was for loss.
 
Special Teams: Seth Albin, Illinois Wesleyan
Albin, a senior from Midlothian, Ill., became the first player in the CCIW to return a kickoff for touchdown in 2023, taking the ball 99 yards for a fourth-quarter touchdown in the Titans’ season opener against Central at Tucci Stadium.
