NAPERVILLE – Three players were recognized as College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Student-Athletes of the Week after Week 3 of the football season, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
 
Offense: Luke Lehnen, North Central
Lehnen put together an efficient performance in the top-ranked Cardinals’ 70-0 win over Carthage on Saturday in Naperville. The junior from Chatham, Ill. threw for touchdowns on four of NCC’s first five possessions and led North Central to the end zone on seven of eight drives before leaving the game. For the afternoon, Lehnen completed four passes of more than 50 yards. 
 
In two games, Lehnen has completed 25 of 33 passes for 420 yards with nine scores and no interceptions.
 
Defense: Tim Swaney, Augustana
Swaney stuffed the stat sheet in Augie’s 74-6 win over Elmhurst on Saturday night in Rock Island. The Cincinnati native finished the outing with nine tackles – five of which were unassisted – to go along with 2.0 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, a pass breakup and a quarterback hurry. The senior linebacker anchored an Augustana defense that allowed only 2.4 yards per play for the game.
 
Special Teams: Mateo Jesch, Wheaton
Jesch was perfect in the place-kicking game in Wheaton’s 47-16 win over Illinois Wesleyan, successfully converting five extra-point attempts and two field goals. Both of his successful field-goal tries on Saturday came in the first half, allowing the Thunder to build a two-score lead.
 
The sophomore from Fishers, Ind. also punted four times, averaging 37.2 yards per kick and placing a pair of punts inside IWU’s 20-yard-line.
