NAPERVILLE – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its Men’s Soccer Student-Athletes of the Week on Tuesday for matches played between Monday, Oct. 13 and Sunday, Oct. 19.
 
Offensive: Kyle Johnson, Wheaton, Junior (Champaign, Ill.)
Johnson had a season-high five points in the Thunder’s 7-3 victory at Carthage last Wednesday. Johnson’s first of two goals on the night was the go-ahead tally just 5:57 into the match, breaking an early 1-1 deadlock. He also assisted on a 20th-minute tally and scored his second goal of the match in the 75th minute.
 
The WC forward followed with his ninth goal of the season on Saturday, helping set the tone for Wheaton’s 2-1 league win at Millikin. The 65th-minute tally ended a scoreless stalemate.
 
Defensive: Teo Helm, North Park, Junior (Hässleholm, Sweden)
Helm is the third North Park CCIW Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week since Oct. 1 after logging a goal and two assists last week, all while limiting the opposition to one goal over 180 minutes in two victories.
 
Helm assisted on a strike in the ninth minute of NPU’s 3-1 win over Chicago last Wednesday, the Vikings’ first win in the crosstown series since 2016. He also scored the match winner in the 10th minute and assisted on an insurance marker shortly after halftime when North Park blanked Carroll last Saturday, 2-0.
