NCC Still #1, Wheaton on the Rise in New Football Polls

NAPERVILLE – Another week of national rankings brought another top billing for North Central, according to polls released by D3football.com on Sunday and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) on Monday. Wheaton climbed two spots to #23 in the D3football.com rankings.
 
North Central (7-0) maintained the #1 ranking with a 49-10 win at Augustana last Saturday. The Cardinals had 18 of 25 first-place votes for 618 points from D3football.com and 37 of 50 first-place choices from the AFCA, totaling 1,236 points.
 
Wheaton (5-2) won its third consecutive game on Saturday, a 27-20 decision at WashU. Wheaton skipped in front of Mary Hardin-Baylor and Wisconsin-Whitewater with the win, now 23rd with 83 points. The Thunder received 35 points from the coaches, fifth-most among unranked teams.
