NAPERVILLE – The 2024 version of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) All-Conference Team in women’s soccer was announced by the league office on Friday morning.
CCIW runner up and reigning CCIW Tournament champion North Central landed a league-high seven selections on the postseason honor roll. Carroll, which swept its way to the 2024 regular-season conference crown, had six student-athletes receive recognition on Friday. Both the Cardinals and Pioneers saw four of their players honored on the All-CCIW First Team.
North Central fifth-year forward Elle Sutter repeated as the CCIW Offensive Student-Athlete of the Year. Sutter was an offensive force for the Cardinals throughout the league slate, recorded CCIW bests with 12 goals, 28 points, 58 shots and 29 shots on goal. She also shared the league lead with three match-winning goals and four assists.
Sutter joins Caelyn Steffens of Illinois Wesleyan (2019, 2021-22) as players to repeat as Offensive Student-Athlete of the Year since the current iteration of the award began in 2018.
Also a repeat specialty award winner on Friday was NCC junior Kassandra Salviola, who earned her second consecutive nod as CCIW Defensive Student-Athlete of the Year. The junior from Naperville anchored an NCC back line that allowed only two goals during the conference schedule and produced seven shutout victories. She also scored five goals – tied for second-most in the CCIW – and finished the conference schedule as the league’s fifth-leading scorer with 11 points.
Carroll’s Caitlin Fitzsimons was voted CCIW Goalkeeper of the Year. The fifth-year Oak Lawn, Ill. native helped the Pioneers to their first-ever CCIW title, posting a 0.37 goals-against average with six shutouts and an .889 saves percentage. She played all 720 minutes in net for the Pios during their run to the league title and her five saves in a 2-1 win over North Central on Sept. 28 were a season high.
Izzy Jones is the recipient of the CCIW First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year award, the first player from Millikin to earn the honor since it was first awarded in 2012. The freshman from Olathe, Kan., who was also voted to the All-CCIW Second Team on Friday, scored three goals against conference opponents – two of which were match winners. Her efforts helped MU land the #3 seed and a quarterfinal match at home in the upcoming CCIW Tournament.
Susie Foster, the second-year head coach at Elmhurst, was voted CCIW Coach of the Year by her peers. After the Bluejays were selected ninth in a preseason coaches’ poll on Aug. 21, Foster piloted EU to a 4-4-0 CCIW record and the #4 seed in the CCIW Tournament – Elmhurst’s first trip to the league’s postseason since 2018. Foster is the first EU head coach to receive the award since Paul Webster in 2011.
Six of the 12 First Team honorees are repeat selections – Jess Stepien and Grace Tumilty of Carroll are joined by Sutter, Salviola and Sarah Andrey of North Central. Wheaton’s Mia Blair is also on the First Team for the second consecutive season. Sutter is the only four-time All-CCIW First Team choice.
The only other player earning a fourth All-CCIW selection on Friday was Augustana’s Liesl Whitener – First Team in 2021, 2022 and 2024 and Second Team in 2023.
