NAPERVILLE – Augustana, Carthage and North Central are among the at-large team selections for the NCAA Men’s Cross Country Championship on Saturday in Terre Haute, Ind.
 
Thirty-two teams were selected to participate in the championship. The top seven-person team automatically qualified from each of the 10 regions, while the three CCIW qualifying teams were among 22 additional teams that were selected at-large. 
 
North Central placed second out of 31 teams in the NCAA Midwest Regional last Saturday at Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Ill. Augustana was fifth in the team standings. Carthage was the sixth-place team finisher at the NCAA North Regional last Saturday in Northfield, Minn.
 
The Cardinals, Vikings and Firebirds have all been nationally ranked at one point during the season and were the top three team finishers at the CCIW Championship on Nov. 2.
 
In addition to the three CCIW teams that qualified for the NCAA Championship, Millikin’s Bradyn Olmstead was selected as an individual. Olmstead placed 14th at the Midwest Regional. Seventy individuals, the first seven student-athletes from each region who are not a part of a qualifying team, were selected to participate in the national championship.
 
The NCAA Championship is an 8K race and will begin at 11 a.m. CT this Saturday at LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course at Terre Haute, Ind. Rose-Hulman is the host of the event.
