NAPERVILLE – Illinois Wesleyan assistant directors of athletic communications Taiah Gallisath and Meredith Mahoney joined North Central assistant sports information director Nicholas Osterloo as members of the College Sports Communicators’ 30 Under 30 Class of 2024, according to a Tuesday announcement.
The honor recognizes emerging athletics communications professionals at all levels of college sports in strategic, creative and digital spaces. Nominees must be 29 years old or younger on December 31, 2024 and a current 2024-25 CSC member.
Gallisath, now in her second year at Illinois Wesleyan, is the primary communications contact for the Titan women's soccer, cross country, track & field, wrestling, and men's lacrosse programs. A talented writer, Gallisath has led Illinois Wesleyan's feature storytelling efforts including a year-long series celebrating the 50th anniversary of NCAA Division III. She has been recognized nationally for her writing with the NCAA Division III / CSC Identity award and is also an active member within College Sports Communicators as a member of the Academic All-America committee.
Gallisath began her career as a student worker and then a graduate assistant at North Central. During her time at NCC, Gallisath was an accomplished high jumper on the Cardinals' track and field team.
Mahoney, who was recently chosen to participate in NCAA Division III's inaugural Emerging Elite Program next week, is in her third year on staff with the Titans. She oversees the communications and promotion of the IWU men's and women's volleyball, men's and women's tennis, and women's lacrosse teams. A rising star within CSC, Mahoney is a member of both the Academic All-America and Young Professional committees.
Mahoney came to IWU by way of Central College, where she was a three-year student worker in the Sports Information Department under CSC Hall of Famer Larry Happel. A four-year member of the Dutch softball team, Mahoney was also involved in the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She graduated from Central with a bachelor's degree in actuarial science in May of 2022.
Osterloo started in the North Central sports information department as a student assistant in 2016 and served as a graduate assistant from 2019 to 2021 before being promoted to assistant director. He has worked with each of the Cardinals' 26 athletic programs during his tenure and currently serves as the primary contact for baseball, women's volleyball, women's basketball, and men's and women's tennis.
He has been instrumental in the ideation, creation and publication of written, visual and creative content used in the promotion of the Cardinals' athletic programs in print, online and digital formats.
Of a record 176 nominations submitted, this year’s class includes 10 members from different levels of NCAA Division I, six Division II members, 10 Division III members, two NAIA members, one member from a Canadian institution, and one two-year college member. The average age is 27.1 years old.
Honorees in the 2024 class were chosen by a voting group composed of the Executive Board of Directors, the Advisory Council, CSC staff, leaders from all CSC committees and selected past winners.
