NAPERVILLE – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) selected Braiden Young of Augustana as the league’s Student-Athlete of the Week in men’s wrestling on Tuesday afternoon.
Young posted a 3-0 record last weekend en route to the championship of the 184-pound bracket at Central’s Last Chance Invitational in Pella, Iowa.
In the quarterfinal round, the freshman from Coal City, Ill. pinned Alex Muhammad of Eureka in 2:30. His win in the semifinal versus Nawab Singh of Schreiner was in a 3-1 tiebreaker before a 4-1 sudden-victory in the final against Sam West of host Central.
