NAPERVILLE – North Central remained #1 in both Division III national polls after the Cardinals’ 48-21 win over Aurora on Saturday.
The Cardinals (1-0) took down then-#13/#14 Aurora, 48-21, in their season opener on Saturday night. NCC kept its #1 ranking in the D3football.com poll released Sunday night, earning 17 of 25 first-place votes for 617 points. The Cardinals were also #1 in Monday’s American Football Coaches Association rankings with 33 of 50 first-place votes and 1,229 points. North Central will begin CCIW action this Saturday at Carthage at 1 p.m.
Wheaton did not play Saturday but moved up one position to #18 in the D3football.com poll. The Thunder held firm at #22 in the coaches’ rankings. Wheaton hosts Augustana in the league opener this Saturday at 6 p.m.
Augustana (1-0) received five points in the D3football.com. WashU (1-0) notched four points in the AFCA rankings.
