NAPERVILLE – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its Women’s Volleyball Student-Athletes of the Week on Tuesday for matches played between Friday, Aug. 30 and Sunday, Sept. 1.
 
Offensive: Adriana Rodriguez, North Park, Senior (Carolina, Puerto Rico)
The senior and 2022 CCIW Offensive Student-Athlete of the Year helped the 21st-ranked Vikings rocket to a 4-0 start with a sweep of a weekend trip to Guaynabo, Puerto Rico.
 
Rodriguez logged three double-doubles on the trip, including a 27-kill, 19-dig performance in NPU’s win over Ohio Wesleyan that included a personal career-best 73 attacks. She also logged five service aces in contests against Buffalo State and OWU. For the weekend, the senior outside hitter averaged 4.93 kills and 1.00 service ace per set while attacking at a .269 clip.
 
Setter: Maddi Barickman, North Central, Senior (Geneseo, Ill.)
Barickman led the Cardinals to a pair of season-opening sweeps, averaging 11.0 assists across six sets as NCC dispatched Carleton and St. Olaf last Friday in Chicago. The Cardinals’ setter added 15 digs, five kills and four service aces and will enter the season’s first full week as the conference leader in assists per set.
 
Defensive: Carolina Aviles, North Park, Junior (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico)
Through the season’s first weekend, Aviles ranks fifth nationally with 6.86 digs per set after the Vikings’ sweep of Buffalo State, Rowan, Widener and Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday and Sunday.
 
Playing in her hometown of Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, the 5-foot-1 defensive specialist established a new career high with 32 digs in the Sunday win over OWU. She also tallied three service aces in each of the final three matches.
