NAPERVILLE – North Central won its 49th consecutive regular-season game last Saturday to remain the country’s #1 squad in both the D3football.com and American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) national polls.
NCC topped in WashU in Naperville, 49-9. The Cardinals collected 16 of 25 first-place votes and 616 points in the D3football.com ballots. The AFCA gave North Central 36 of 50 first-place votes and 1,233 points.
Wheaton moved up one spot to #18 in the D3football.com rankings on Sunday night and one position to #23 in the AFCA poll on Monday afternoon. The Thunder were 22-10 winners at Carroll. WC had 176 points from D3football.com and 206 points from the AFCA.
WashU suffered its first loss of the campaign at North Central, but garnered votes in both polls. The Bears totaled seven points from D3football.com and three points from the AFCA.
