NAPERVILLE — Illinois Wesleyan teammates Taylor French and Sophia Feeney joined Millikin’s Kyra Carothers as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Volleyball Student-Athletes of the Week announced Monday afternoon.
 
Hitter: Taylor French, Illinois Wesleyan
French led IWU to a league win over Carthage last Wednesday. In the four-set win, the Romeoville, Ill. native posted 16 kills on a .262 clip, six aces, 13 digs and a block. The win boosted the seventh-ranked Titans’ resume to 15-1 overall, and a perfect 4-0 in CCIW play.
 
Setter: Sophia Feeney, Illinois Wesleyan
Feeney, a junior from Bloomington, Ill. totaled 28 assists in the Titans’ 6-2 rotation along with five digs versus Carthage.
 
Defensive: Kyra Carothers, Millikin
Carothers was the leading blocker for the Big Blue last week in their 2-2 week that included losses to two top-ten AVCA squads and a five-set league victory over Wheaton. 
 
She piled up 22.0 total blocks, including 6.0 against Wheaton and 7.0 against Coe for 1.22 blocks per set on the week. The junior also totaled 38 kills on the other side of the net.
