Carthage Eighth, IWU 16th in D3hoops.com Preseason Poll

NAPERVILLE — Carthage is ranked eighth and Illinois Wesleyan is 16th in preseason national rankings released by D3hoops.com on Wednesday.
 
The Firebirds were 21-7 last season and won the outright College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) title, their first since 2010. Carthage, which was a recipient of an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament last season, received 396 points in the preseason poll. 
 
IWU, which won the CCIW Tournament crown last season, posted a 24-6 mark last season. The Titans had 227 points in the new poll after last season’s run to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.
 
Trinity (Conn.) is the preseason D3hoops.com #1 after securing 23 of 25 first-place votes. Randolph-Macon is second, followed by Emory, Tufts and WashU.
