NAPERVILLE — Illinois Wesleyan’s Taylor French, Wheaton’s Lacey Higgins and Elmhurst’s Alexis Casey were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Volleyball Student-Athletes of the Week on Tuesday. 
 
French was honored as Hitter of the Week after powering the Titans to a record-setting regular-season finale, Higgins claimed Setter of the Week for her efficient play in Wheaton’s victory over North Central, and Casey earned Defensive Player of the Week for anchoring Elmhurst’s back row in a road win.
 
Hitter: Taylor French, Illinois Wesleyan
French led the Titans to a sweep of Augustana last Wednesday, closing out the Titans’ second straight undefeated CCIW regular season. IWU established a new program record, as the offense erupted for a .521 attack percentage. French led the way with 15 kills, committing just two errors on 24 swings, as she finished at a .542 clip. The senior also posted a team-high 16 digs for a double-double, adding two assists and an ace. 
 
Setter: Lacey Higgins, Wheaton
Higgins averaged 11.0 assists per set and tacked on 11 digs last Tuesday in Wheaton's win at home against North Central. The senior from Lee’s Summit, Mo. also had two kills and two total blocks in the win.
 
Defensive: Alexis Casey, Elmhurst
Casey, a senior, led the Bluejays’ back row with 18 digs (4.50 per set) and a .932 serve-receive percentage on 44 attempts in EU’s four-set win at North Central last Wednesday. She also logged a pair of service aces.
