NAPERVILLE — Three standout performances highlighted the most recent College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Football Student-Athletes of the Week, as Wheaton’s Mark Forcucci and Peter Johanik swept the offensive and defensive honors while North Central’s Aidan Ellison earned the special teams award.
Offensive: Mark Forcucci, Wheaton
Forcucci, a senior from Winfield, Ill, matched Wheaton’s single-game record with six touchdown passes in a 52–6 win at North Park on Saturday. His six scoring throws also equal the highest single-game total recorded in the league this season. Forcucci completed 13 of 17 attempts (76.5%) for 282 yards.
He opened the game with a 52-yard touchdown pass early in the first quarter and added a 23-yard score later in the period. In the second quarter, he connected on touchdown passes of 21 and 11 yards. Within the first two minutes of the second half, Forcucci added scoring throws of 65 and 29 yards, each coming on one-play drives.
Defensive: Peter Johanik, Wheaton
Johanik recorded four solo tackles on Saturday at North Park, each resulting in lost yardage. The senior finished with 4.0 tackles for loss totaling 13 yards, including 3.0 sacks for 12 yards. His fourth tackle for loss gave him 51 for his career, establishing a new Wheaton record and surpassing the previous mark of 50.5 set by former All-American and NFL draft pick Andy Studebaker (2004–07).
Johanik also contributed a quarterback hurry on a fourth-and-one play in the second quarter, forcing an incompletion and turnover on downs.
Special Teams: Aidan Ellison, North Central
In North Central’s 24-7 win over Illinois Wesleyan, Ellison hit a 42-yard field goal in the third quarter that extended the NCC lead to 17-7. He also made all three of his extra-point attempts and had four touchbacks on five kickoffs.
