NAPERVILLE — North Park’s Mike Vuckovic was named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week on Monday after averaging 23.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in a pair of starts last week.
The junior guard from Hanover Park, Ill. added four assists, eight steals and a block across 71 minutes. He shot an even 50 percent from the field (18-for-36) and was nearly perfect at the line, converting 8 of 9 free throws.
Vuckovic erupted for a career-best 38 points last Wednesday in an 82-77 win over Alma. He finished 14-for-24 from the floor (58%), knocked down a pair of 3s, and went 8-for-9 at the stripe. Vuckovic pulled down eight rebounds, including five on the offensive glass, adding two assists and two steals in 34 minutes.
On Saturday against Wisconsin-La Crosse, Vuckovic logged nine points, six rebounds and six assists.
