NAPERVILLE — Two standout performances led the way in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) women’s swimming and diving, as Wheaton’s Tess Boyer and Carthage’s Giada Castelli rose above a strong weekend of competition to earn the league’s Student-Athlete of the Week honors.
Swimming: Tess Boyer, Wheaton
Boyer put together a standout two-day stretch against Carthage last weekend, opening competition Friday by leading off the winning mixed 200 free relay with a 24.13 split. She then posted a season-best 2:06.91 in the 200 IM – the fastest mark in the CCIW this year. She later handled the fly leg of the 400 medley relay, splitting 56.77.
On Saturday, Boyer again swam fly on a winning relay, clocking 25.74 in the 200 medley. She swept her individual events, taking the 400 IM in 4:28.98 and adding a personal-best 53.39 to win the 100 free, another conference-leading mark. She wrapped up the weekend by anchoring the victorious 400 free relay in 51.99.
Diving: Giada Castelli, Carthage
In the dual meet against Wheaton, Castelli topped her previous personal best on 1-meter by 17 points, finishing with a score of 134.20.
