Wheaton's Jack Krahel Named First Team Academic All-America by CSC

| By: Wheaton Athletics Communications
WHEATON, Ill. --- College Sports Communicators (CSC) has announced its 2025 Academic All-America Teams in the sport of men's soccer, and Wheaton goalkeeper Jack Krahel has earned recognition as a First Team honoree in Division III following his decorated final season with the Thunder program. Krahel garners this prestigious accolade after receiving Academic All-District honors from the same organization and numerous athletic achievements this fall, including being named a First Team All-Region honoree by United Soccer Coaches and the CCIW Men's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Year. He is the only graduate student in Division III men's soccer to earn Academic All-America recognition this year and is the lone men's soccer player from the CCIW to be named to the 2025 Academic All-America teams.

The Academic All-America® program honors student-athletes annually who have succeeded at the highest level in athletics and in the classroom. Individuals are selected through voting by College Sports Communicators - a 2,000-plus member organization consisting of sports public relations professionals for colleges and universities in the United States and Canada. To be eligible for Academic All-America selection, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of at least 3.50 on a scale of 4.00, and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their current institution. Since the program's inception in 1952, CSC has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 15,000 student-athletes in Division I, II, III, NAIA and junior colleges covering all NCAA championship sports.

Student-athletes from Wheaton have earned a total of 121 Academic All-America selections since 1973 through the esteemed program. Today's announcement extends Wheaton College's streak of having at least one student-athlete be recognized as an Academic All-American in every academic year since 1998-99. Krahel becomes the tenth men's soccer player in program history (with 18 total recognitions) to be named an Academic All-American and is the team's first honoree since Stephen Golz earned his third and final recognition in 2015. Additionally, Krahel is the first First Team honoree for the Thunder men's soccer program since Golz was named to the First Team in 2014.

Krahel earned his bachelor's degree in business economics in May with a noteworthy 3.94 cumulative grade point average (GPA) as an undergraduate and is currently completing his first semester in the Sports Leadership Master's program at Wheaton. The Georgia native recently concluded an outstanding final season on the pitch that saw him be named the conference's Goalkeeper of the Year and a United Soccer Coaches First Team All-Region selection. Krahel saved a league-high 89% of the shots he faced in CCIW play this fall and owned a 76.4% overall measure for the year. The graduate goalie kept five clean sheets in conference competition this season, the most that any CCIW keeper has registered since 2013. He finished the campaign with a conference-best seven total shutouts, and his 0.63 goals-against average in CCIW competition was the best in the league this year.

Krahel was the only player in the squad to be on the field for every minute of Wheaton's 18 games in the 2025 season. The veteran shot-stopper tallied ten saves in his Senior Night contest against Millikin University, the highest single-game mark by a Thunder goalie since 2021, and saved a North Park penalty kick in the conference tournament semifinals. Krahel was named the CCIW Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week on October 7, October 14, and October 21 of this year, making him the first men's soccer player in CCIW history to ever earn three-consecutive conference player of the week awards.
