NAPERVILLE — Wheaton claimed both weekly women’s swimming and diving honors from the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) on Tuesday, as junior swimmer Tess Boyer and sophomore diver Lara Stamp were named CCIW Student-Athletes of the Week following standout performances at the 44th annual Wheaton Invitational.
Swimming: Tess Boyer, Wheaton
Boyer delivered a dominant weekend in the pool, setting multiple records while posting NCAA qualifying marks in three events. She captured the 200-yard individual medley title in a time of 2:03.72, establishing new school, pool and CCIW records. The effort ranks as the ninth-fastest time in NCAA Division III this season.
In the 400-yard individual medley, Boyer continued her record-setting pace, lowering her own school mark with a winning time of 4:23.23. That swim also set new CCIW and meet records and earned an NCAA provisional qualifying time that currently ranks third nationally in Division III.
Boyer also won the 200-yard butterfly, pacing the preliminaries with a 2:06.29 before claiming the finals with a time of 2:07.28. She added key relay contributions, swimming legs on Wheaton’s winning efforts in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:38.14), 400-yard medley relay (3:58.62), and 400-yard freestyle relay (3:34.39).
Diving: Lara Stamp, Wheaton
Stamp opened her season in impressive fashion, sweeping both diving events. The sophomore recorded a lifetime-best score of 341.10 on the 3-meter board (11 dives), surpassing her previous best by 40 points. She also captured the 1-meter title (11 dives) with a score of 313.90.
The combined efforts of Boyer and Stamp helped propel the Thunder to a second-place finish in the seven-team field.
