Back to Back: Augustana Claims CCIW Women’s Swim Title

PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. – Augustana totaled 831 team points to win its second consecutive College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Swimming & Diving Championship Saturday night at the Pleasant Prairie RecPlex in Pleasant Prairie, Wis.
 
The result marked the first time the Vikings have won two straight women’s league titles since earning three in a row from 1988 through 1990. Augie had two individual wins on Saturday – Mara Walker in the 200 backstroke, Brooke Walker in the 200 breaststroke.
 
Carthage was the team runner up with 785.5 points. Eighteenth-year CC head coach Beth DeLaRosby was voted CCIW Coach of the Year for the sixth time, while freshman Emily Belcik secured the CCIW First-Year Student-Athlete of the Meet award.
 
Wheaton placed third on the team leaderboard with 751.5 points. Tess Boyer was voted CCIW Student-Athlete of the Meet after winning the 200 individual medley, 400 individual medley and 200 butterfly. She was also a member of the Thunder’s winning relay squads in the 800 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 200 medley and 400 freestyle.
 
Lara Stamp of Wheaton earned CCIW Diving Student-Athlete of the Meet honors after claiming a win in 1-meter diving on Wednesday.
 
Augustana’s Kendle Mihm and Carthage’s Noelle Marsh were the co-recipients of the CCIW Elite 26 award in women’s swimming, presented to the student-athlete who excels academically and athletically at the conference level in each of the CCIW's 26 sponsored sports.
