NAPERVILLE – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its Men’s Volleyball Student-Athletes of the Week for matches played between Monday, Jan. 27 and Sunday, Feb. 2.
Hitter: Corey Mayotte, Loras, Senior (Geneva, Ill.)
Mayotte totaled 34 kills – an average of 5.67 per set – to drive the Duhawks to three-set sweeps of Concordia Wisconsin and Benedictine last week.
The outside hitter attacked at a .484 clip against CUW and .452 versus BU. He also had 14 digs, six total blocks and five service aces during the week.
Setter: Evan Dziadkowiec, Loras, Freshman (Lockport, Ill.)
The newcomer piled up an average of 11.16 assists over six sets in LC’s two sweeps last week. Dziadkowiec also tallied 15 digs, six blocks, four kills and two service aces.
As a team, Loras hit .402 against Concordia Wisconsin and .278 against Benedictine.
Defensive: Gavin Rohlwing, Illinois Wesleyan, Freshman (Tower Lake, Ill.)
Rohlwing provided 1.33 blocks per set for Illinois Wesleyan last week, helping the Titans to victories over Marian, Concordia Chicago and Illinois Tech. The decisions allowed IWU to improve its record to 7-2, the best in program history.
Rohlwing had a solo block in each of IWU’s four matches last week and finished the match against CUC with nine total blocks – an IWU record for a three-set match. He also contributed offensively, averaging 3.80 points per set on the strength of 44 kills and a service ace.
