ROCHESTER, N.Y. – North Central’s Braden Nicholson ran to a national title in the 3,000 meters, one of 11 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) student-athletes to earn All-America status at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships last Friday and Saturday in Rochester, N.Y.
 
Nicholson ran the event in 8:07.39, giving the Cardinals’ their second national title in the event. His efforts helped NCC pile up 10 points for a 16th-place team finish.
 
First-Team All-America status is awarded to finishers first through eighth (individual events and relays) in each event. Second-Team All-America status is awarded to finishers ninth through 16th (individual events) and ninth through 10th (relays) in each event.
 
North Park’s Jereme Ombogo collected First Team All-America status in two events, placing fourth in the 60 meters and eighth in the 200 meters. Augustana’s Magnus Wells (weight throw), Carthage’s Lucas Leal (weight throw), Illinois Wesleyan’s Evan Lowder (400 Meters) and Millikin’s Kyle Hensley (pole vault) also secured top-eight finishes.
